Year 3 General Information

Information Below Updated Last - October 19th, 2023

 

To earn a Year 3 Certificate of Completion students must:

​

1. Attend Fall Medical Professional Panels Day with 6 Professional Speaker Panels -  (Date = Sat 10/21/23)

​

2. Attend Fall Medical "Skills" Day (NEW EVENT)  -  on a Late Start Wed before 0 Period (Date = Wed 11/15)

​

3. Complete 3 Professional Development Modules - Via Edpuzzle by January, 2024

​

4. Attend 1 of the 2 Keynote Speakers in Spring - (Dates = T.B.D.)

​

5. Complete a Hands-on Lab Animal Dissection in Spring - (Dates = T.B.D.)

Year 3 Graduation Ceremony 2019

1. Medical Professionals Day  

(Saturday, Oct 21st (8 - 10:00am) - In Person Event @ BHS)

  • LEARN FROM A RANGE OF PROFESSIONAL PANELS!

    • Professional Panel #1 - College Underclassmen

    • Professional Panel #2 - College Upperclassmen 

    • Professional Panel #3 - UC Irvine Medical Students

    • Professional Panel #4 - UC Irvine Medical Residents

    • Professional Panel #5 - Young Professionals in STEM (1-10 yrs exp)

    • Professional Panel #6 - Professionals in STEM (10+ years exp)
       

2. Medical Skills Day (SPECIAL EVENT)
(Wed. November 15th, 7:15-8:25am- In Person @ BHS)

  • This NEW event started last school year (22-23)!

  • Year 3 Students will rotate through 8 stations learning 8 skills useful in healthcare.  

  • Special thanks to a grant given by Beckman EdFund / PTO!! More information will be sent via email!

3. Complete 3 Professional Development Modules on Edpuzzle (Due Jan 2024) 

  • Modules will be at your own pace on topics such as managing personal finance, interview skills and how to choose a specialty/future career!

    • Google Classroom/Edpuzzle Code will be sent to members via email!​

4. Attend 1 of the 2 Keynote Speakers 

(Spring Semester)

  • Mr. Chow & 4 Senior Directors

    • Date = T.B.D (Est. February 2024)
       

  • Dr. Le Bucklin (UCI School of Medicine Vice Dean)​

    • Date = T.B.D (Est. February 2024)

    • Topic = What Medical Schools are Looking For​

5. Complete a Lab Animal Dissection in a Group (Spring Semester)

  • Students will be able to choose an animal from a provided list of dissectables

  • Students will be able to choose their own groups

  • Two Dates = T.B.D. and sent to students via email!

**Before Covid (2020), we created a partnership/agreement with a local CPR Training Company for the opportunity to provide low-cost CPR certification for our members on our BHS campus.  At this point, we are not able to provide this opportunity for THIS school year (2023-2024).  If we are in the future, we will notify everyone!  Thank you for your understanding!
